My Criminology Professor, Dr. Kathleen M. Heide, Weighs in on the Girls Who Tried to Kill For Slender Man

Hello and good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen!

My criminology professor at USF, (Dr. Kathleen M. Heide) was interviewed for Newsweek about two pre-teen girls, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, who stabbed their friend 19 times in the hopes of becoming part of Slender Man's pack. Geyser and Weier are tried as adults because murders and attempted murders by children over the age of 10 are automatically tried in adult court in Wisconsin. The actions of Geyser and Weier's crime were so violent, that they are being charged for non-negligent murder and face up to 65 years in prison! Can you imagine being 12 years old and already knowing where you are going to be spending the rest of your life?!

Although what these girls did was cruel, I do believe the sentence is harsh for two 12 year-old girls. No one should get away with murder, but knowing how the human brain works, these girls' brains are not fully developed to think logically as an adult. They do know right from wrong, but their clouded judgment is what causes them to act out their crime. Do you guys believe these girls should be tried as juveniles or adults? What do you guys believe their punishment should be?

Rest in Peace, Robin Williams! 🙇

Coming home to the news that Robin Williams passed away marks today (August 11th, 2014) as one of the saddest days of my life. Like, tears are literally producing in my eyes and falling down my cheeks! A piece of my childhood has died.

I always think about how life will be like when all of the famous people I grew up admiring pass away. I never saw this death coming so suddenly. A fellow instagrammer said, and I quote, "Robin Williams was like the uncle you did not see often, but when you did, he would always make you smile and you remembered nothing but good things. I did not expect to feel this one so much." The feeling is mutual!

I think that Robin's death demonstrates that, it does not matter how rich, famous and funny someone is. Depression can haunt anyone. That is why it is important to be kind to those around you. You never know who could be on the edge of breaking.

Legends never die because they leave plenty behind to remember them by. My condolences go out to his wife, three kids, relatives and friends. Rest in peace, Robin Williams! 🙇

Meet the Newest Addition to My Family: Da Vinci! 🐶

Meet the newest addition to my family: Da Vinci! 🐶 (Yes! You read that right. "Da Vinci" is his name. He can thank my mom for that LOL!) Da Vinci is my son. I had a surrogate mother give birth to my child. I believe that everyone who did not grow up taking care of siblings, etc. should have a puppy (or any animal) before having babies so they can learn responsibilities and how to look after another life.

I have had Da Vinci for quite some time now (I am posting a photo of him up now because this is the first and only time where he stayed still for me to take a picture of him LOL!), and I could not be happier. You guys probably remember Pistol, the Boston Terrier. We had to return Pistol back to his owners because of some regulations against pets we had at our new home. Every other dog that has been handed to me in the past, for some reason, had to go back to their owners.

Da Vinci is a graduation gift that filled in a huge void that I have had since my parents gave up my previous dog [Zorro] due to illness. I could not want any other puppy, and I thank my mom and friend's mom for putting Da Vinci in my life.

I still have not figured out Da Vinci's breed, but I have some breeds in mind (his breed has not been verified just yet). Da Vinci has been learning tricks so quickly. His name actually suits him well because one of my favorite tricks that he has learned is to sing when I am singing. Even though Da Vinci, the puppy sings, and Da Vinci, the artist paints, both Da Vinci's are creative! Isn't he just the cutest?!

On This Day in 1988...

On this day in 1988... my parents got married!

It has been 26 years ago, today, that my parents exchanged vows and got married. My parents are the perfect example of how every marriage should be. My dad found a diamond in a pool of stones. My dad takes care of my mom, and my mom takes care of my dad. My mom is a very domesticated housewife, always taking care of things in the house. She cooks (deliciously) on time, cleans, does the laundry, takes care of me, etc.

People who argue for the pettiest things nowadays break up or get a divorce, but not my parents. They may have their disagreements here and there, but they manage to work together to provide a better life for me...as it should be LOL! I hope that my marriage lasts this long the day that I get married.

Cheers for 26 more years! :-)
